Unseen Academicals (Discworld Novels)

Classic Pratchett: reassuringly familiar but fresh. Despite Foot-The-Ball being quite a medieval version of the actual sport Pratchett is offering a very astute critique of the real thing.

Dangerously addictive, like many of Pratchett's books. Don't start it if the oven is on!

Excellent Discworld book, well worth reading (especially as the World cup is on!)

If I am going to have a book, I really like it when they're in hardback. Yet again, my perfect lovely BEA-utiful Jemma has done the business. Not got into it too far (I have decided that this will be my "Read in the Bath" book) but it is looking very good so far.

a bit of a disapointment though I did enjoy all the new characters and of course all of the old favourites :)

After a terrible world cup, this book restored my faith in football (and orcs).

This is a great read and I love the way Terry introduces the diversity issues with Mr Nutt. A very interesting take on the game with special references to the fans, violence and enthusiasm there is to the cause. Really loved the way Terry puts fashion and intruduces the first Disc Work supermodel in the same book. Bloody genious.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is simply amazing and the most consistently funny series of books I have ever come across. In this book (like so many other Discworld novels I have read) I find myself following the same pattern. It takes me a few chapters before I start to warm to it; sometimes I have started a Discworld novel two or three times. But when I am in, I find myself bursting out with gusts of laughter over a sublime, surreal turn of phrase. Then, without even knowing it, I have fallen in love with the main character(s). Terry writes his characters in such a touching and open way that they always resonate with me on some level. On some level, his books are never just comedies, they are more than comment. They are reflections I love to get lost in.   hide
