A book, that not only makes you think but changes your thinking forever. I had hangover for pretty long time after I finished reading it and that does not happen too often to me...at least not after reading a book, if you know what I mean :) It may not give you the answers but it will raise pretty important questions that we subconsciously avoid. In all the hassle, we lose the sight of what we are truly after. What is it that we are pursuing? Money, fame, relations, happiness, comfort. Each has its importance in one's life yet it helps put things in perspective. So in a nutshell, its not preachy and extremely powerful in so many ways, perhaps because its not preachy. I don't like preachy anyway.   hide

This book changed my life. I grew up Christian and for 20 years I questioned how much I really believed in what I had been taught to believe. This book changed my life. I grew up Christian and for 20 years I questioned how much I really believed in what I had been taught to believe. As the Law of Attraction (or you can call it God's Will) would have it, I was assigned to read this for one of my Liberal Arts classes in college at a time of great personal and spiritual turmoil. This book gave me the courage to take that final step in leaving the Church. Ironically that move strengthened my relationship with the Great Spirit like never before, and finally I found peace within myself and with God.   hide

Short read; takes only a few hours. Challenges the reader to think about the value of learning from others versus experiencing for oneself and being proactive versus letting things happen. Similar to Narcissus and Goldmund, the author sheds light on the close friendship between men but also posits that women are an important influence in men's lives. love this book

The book is average in its interpretation of Gautam the Buddha. Nothing much different from the already available litreature. The only good factor is its size. you can finich cover to cover in couple of hours or so.

My favorite novel.

An interesting look into the life of a prince, forsaking everything he knew to become what we know today as Buddha.

I do not like this book...i had to read it for school
