As I've said in previous reviews, short stories are not Montgomery's strength. Novels allow her to develop her characters and plotlines to the full; her shorter pieces always seem a little too pat. Still, the descriptions are lovely and the dialogue amusing. Montgomery at her worst is still better than a lot of writers at their best.
