more The main character, Evan Kendrick, was an unwilling pick by a secret group called Inver Brass to be the next vice president candidate. Impressed by his audacious and discreet approach in resolving a hostage situation at Oman, the group decided to expose and bolster this small-town Congressman into the public limelight. Unknowing to the group, however, was the traitor within and the interests in the corrupted faction with the incumbent vice president. In the end, the good and the decent triumphed, with the hero getting the girl and eliminating the bad guys.
Storyline is OK, and the American politics infusion is quite refreshing. The first two-third is good with intrigue and tense moments during the confrontation with the terrorists, the assassination and the subsequent kidnapping. The development towards the end is a bit contrived however, with the main character risking himself in an operation filled with professional operatives. He single-handedly killed the main arms dealer with a knife, when you would imagine the number of bodyguards would have prevented such unlikely scenario from developing.
