I normally do not read Westerns but was recommended this by my grandmother. I LOVED it. It kept my interest and was surprisingly a page turner. I recommend it to all friends and family.

I was completely sucked into this book. Loved the idea of being lost in the Russian landscape while on the run. Completely enthralled me.

Great book. I liked the way L'Amout tied in the beginning chapter of the book with the last part. Classic L'Amour set in an unusual time and place.

This and the early Sackett series make me a true fan of L'Amour. He's much more than a cowboy novelist.

The best book I have ever laid my hands on - and that says a lot since I owned my own bookshop. If you can get hold of it make sure you have enough time to finish it, you won't put it down. Absolutely stunning. Perfectly researched..... a real attention grabber.

After Joe Mack is forced down in his USAF experimental plane he is testing and captured by the KGB, he makes his escape from the prison camp and travels across Siberia to get get back home. Good adventure book, but I got tired of reading "he was an indian."
