I was forced to read this book in high school and I still stand by what I thought then.. Fuck Louis L'amour...Westerns SucK Ass, but this chronicle of his personal experiences is beautifully written and well hell I just love it. So check it out if you wish, that's all I got to say.. : )

This was a great book for fans of Louis LAmour. It puts his storytelling into perspective, and is a a story unto itself at the same time.Would recommend for poets, soldiers, and wanderers around the globe!

An amazing autobiographical look at the person behind the books. Drifting between an age that was gone, and an age that was coming into its own, Louis L'Amour utilized both to cultivate himself, and offers interesting insights into our own life choices.

This is my "in the car" book. When I've got a minute (or two) I pull this out and I'm reminded of what living life to the full is all about. Louis L'Amour is one of my favourite authors. While he's most often remembered for his spaghetti western genre, he has written some other historically-rich fiction. The Walking Drum is my all-time favourite. (I won't describe it, here.)
