Foundation and Empire

Definitely your standard 1950's SciFi. No mysticism. No magic. Just a postualted science and people reacting to it. It didn't seem to flow as well as Foundation, but that could be because I read the whole thing while hopping through a series of airports.

From the first robots books through all the Empire books and then through the Foundation books is following mankind through thousands of years of history.
