It's so sad when books with good lessons are written so badly--perhaps to reach the same constituent that liked speeches by George W. Bush. It has a message we all could use to learn, but the delivery is so poor it obscures the point. The dialogue is sophomoric and stinted (on purpose?). It's so sad when books with good lessons are written so badly--perhaps to reach the same constituent that liked speeches by George W. Bush. It has a message we all could use to learn, but the delivery is so poor it obscures the point. The dialogue is sophomoric and stinted (on purpose?). The entire story could be written in a chapter, but the author drags it out, repeats it and repeats it again, presumably to tell us, tell us, and tell us again so it sinks in.   hide

read it it will change your life!

Read this book in 2001 or so and continue to think of some of the analogies when considering environmental impact and human relationships. Loved it!

Ishmael is somewhat simplistic and non-credible, but I enjoyed the presentation. The concept is that maybe we do not know everything about how the world developed...we accept history as it has been written, but what if...??? Obviously there have been choices made along the way, and what if mankind had chosen differently? It seems that greed and power lust have always won out. What if that were not the case, and how can we reverse the bad choices mankind continues to make? Is it up to us? Maybe our own choices will have a greater impact than we think...   hide
