Still my all-time favorite book after all these years. Warning: if your vocabulary sucks, have a dictionary nearby. Pat Conroy has a penchant for $5 words.

Not a bad book for young men to read; it provides a compass for challenges in life regarding honesty, integrity, humility, and character.  The novel holds many of the common threads in Conroy's best--the Carolinas, competitive sports, with a fascination for how the military profession changes those who volunteer for it.  Not a bad book for young men to read; it provides a compass for challenges in life regarding honesty, integrity, humility, and character. My favorite book of all time. Even after reading it about 20 times, it still gets to me. Recommended to anyone who likes a powerful story of friendship and betrayal.

Finished it in like 3 days during finals week. AMAZINGG!!! The characters are brilliantly relatable, the humor is hilarious, and the plot is addictive. The only parts I didn't absolutely love were the Annie Kate moments and the long descriptions. But besides that, I have not yet met a person who has given it a negative review
