This autobiographical novel was fantastic.  Conroy is far more than a good story teller.  He writes vividly and with great verve.  His characters are likeable, hateable, and real.  The story id both sad and inspiring, hard to read in parts, and wonderful throughout.

amazing story. read multiple times, Conroy is perhaps the most "Southern" author I have read..
I have even been to the Citadel post read.

This is one of my favorite books ever.  Pat Conroy is a master storyteller and each of his book is a treasure.  I literally could not put this one down.  His prose is poetry.

Finished it in like 3 days during finals week. AMAZINGG!!! The characters are brilliantly relatable, the humor is hilarious, and the plot is addictive. The only parts I didn't absolutely love were the Annie Kate moments and the long descriptions. But besides that, I have not yet met a person who has given it a negative review
