One of the best books I have read on what it means to live in two worlds - he makes you understand all the complexities of assimilation. Being Mexican-American, I too have experienced much of what he went through. He's a really good writer and very insightful and brutally honest about himself.

Rodriguez' writing is challenging and controversial. And ultimately, a work that stands among the best of theory and autobiography.

Oh, this is such a beautiful book. I missed the bus because I was reading. For anyone who lives in the space between two languages, this book will be a familiar voice.

In this book Rodriguez provides interesting arguments regarding bilingual education and affirmative action, while discussing the very personal ways in which each policy has affected him directly. Great read.

Read for a class. One of the more balanced, "growing up latin in America" books I've read.
