It's back to Riverside with the same cast of characters, only a few decades older. More drama and intrigue abounds in this novel, a "sequel" of sorts to Swordspoint. Another "coming of age" story, this time with a young woman who wants to defy her gender's stereotypes.

As Neil Gaiman put it, it reads (somewhat disconcertingly) "like a YA novel for really smart YAs, only with lashings of hot sex." - Not as good as Swordspoint (not as twisty or well-written), but still funny, smart, and with likable characters.

A good, good book. The sequel to Swordspoint we wanted, and significantly less depressing than Fall of the Kings. Still? Amazingly written and brilliant. I loved this book for the characters and plot. Alec, you're such an asshat. But I just love you so damn much. These characters do that to you.

Again, its a very simple storyline, but the writing is what makes it so good. Very good read and kept me entertained on the trains from...more

Marred somewhat by a too-neat conclusion, but until that point highly recommended.

I didn't do this book justice when I read it. I read it over a a period of about a year and a half. I suspect if I had read it from beginning to end without so many stops, I would have enjoyed it more. As it was, it was just a very good read with a lot of potential. I'll probably read it agian some day.
