A truly exceptional book. To call it simple is unfair, but is almost sparse. At the same time it can transport you to the world like few books can. I cannot believe I didn't read this years ago.

I absolutely love Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea cycle. It's like every word, although very understandable weaves together a monumentally complex tapestry of overwhelming emotions. It's for this fact that I actually place these books above Tolkien's Lord of the Ring's trilogy.

We follow him through his training to a cataclysmic event that releases an unknown horror on the world that hungers for everthing Ged is. Ged must find a way to run or fight and it is unclear which is the best decision or if Ged is even making...more

Le Guin is a great story teller, but as my sister pointed out, her works are like stories told around the campfire. I would have loved the book even more if there were more dialogue and interaction between the characters and not merely told in a 3rd person's perspective.
