I normally despise too much sentimentality, but any L.M.Montgomery piece-- although laden with romance, flowery desriptions, etc.--has enough irony and humor to not only overcome, but enhance what would normally be called rubbish.

I love LM Montgomery, I read this book as a child and I am now re-reading it as an adult. LM certainly gets emotions down very well.
