A disappointing read. The protagonist is incredibly fragile and weak, which would be fine except that the other characters are constantly remarking as to how strong she is... which makes no sense. You get no true sense of strength, nor of any real legal acumen, further confounding the reader in any attempt to figure out how anyone in the book can find this protagonist either strong or skilled...

Coupled with Hoag's heavy reliance on cliches discouraged in even the most elementary English classes ("ton of bricks", "needle in a haystack", etc.), I was completely unimpressed with this story and its boring characters, a mystery with an obvious solution, and focus on a relationship that varies between flippant and emotional.
