Great book, massive scope to the story and the way it all evolves is brilliant. One of the things i like about it is the growth throughout, Pug loves his home, but due to everything grows apart from it, and finds that he struggles to go back to it once he can, because his responsibilities are too great. Just a little idea, but one which I loved - It does appear in Harry Potter, but personally i think it's much more eloquently put. Also the writing style throughout the book - even the trilogy - is easy to read continually and helps you through what could be an arduous read. Reccomended for those who like Harry Potter, but want to have a look at something just a little bit darker with a much grander scope.   hide

Unlike many other series I've read, Feist is able to weave characters both in and out of any of his series with relative ease, he gives himself a large enough timetable to work with that it's not always the same story, but there's something familiar for those who've read his previous work before. I have read every book that Feist has brought out and they have got better and better.... Pug has appeared in nearly every book and you know it started with him and will end with him when feist decides to end but at the moment i hope he keeps bringing them out because there are so few sci fi/Fantasy writers that can keep it up for so long. Raymond Feist has continued to write their stories, but I must say, Silverthorn and Darkess at Sethanon are the close second best... the rest are nice reads (to see what everyone gets up to), but its sad to read about your favourite characters dying of old age and other wars.   hide
