more One of those books I wished would have just kept on going. Gibson created a wonderful world and vivid characters - I was sad to see that this was just a stand-alone book, rather than part of a series. The setting is standard Gibson - near future in which computer hackers and privatized police vie with each other in a corporate-owned California. This book has a much lighter touch than his others, and is genuinely funny. It also has more of an action plot than usual - you are dropped right in the middle of a chase story that never stops. Gibson skillfully uses the plot to explain the world that his characters inhabit - this is NOT one of those sf novels that stops for long sections of exposition (cough, Oryx and Crake, cough). I was surprised at how easily the evil conspiracy is stopped at the end of the book, but it was fun to find Gibson in a lighter, less despairing, and more generous mood than usual.
