Like all of Iris Johansen novels, this book is definitely worth its money! This novel, as well as her other ones, is a page-turning mystery that will keep you guessing. Though most mysteries with major plot twists can be annoying, Johansen pulls it off successfully! The whodunit quality of this mystery is unlike any you've ever read, and it won't disappoint you when you finish the last page--although you will want to read another one of her novels immediately! The amount of romance in this novel balances out the goriness of the novel, and her novels will have any female loving mysteries and action-packed books! I recommend it to any woman who wants something romantic but suspenseful!   hide

The blurb about the book is intended for the Hans Christian Andersen tale of the same name.... that's sad. In any case, the book is decent. I read it because it was there for free, and I had nothing better to do. It's an excellent choice if you're into suspenseful mysteries. I found it refreshingly original, at least, and unforgiving enough to be realistic. The prose doesn't sing, and the story doesn't jolt, but it does pose a good enough read to while away a morning stuck in the airport.   hide

I picked it up while wating for my amazon order to arrive with other books. I've never read anything by Johansen before but the writing style is great. She keeps to the story line without the boring bla bla bla in between. I love a strong female character and the ugly duckling definately has that. It was a great great book and I recommend it to anyone. I will be reading future Johansen books, I LOVED IT!!!   hide

I picked this book up on a whim. It's a decent book if you're in to suspense/thriller/mystery books. The writing style isn't anything spectacular, but if you have some time to waste, or just want an 'escape' type read, give it a shot.    hide
