This was my least favorite of the series so far. The plot was difficult to follow, and I didn't find the motive that compelling. The character development was also wanting. Was Swithin supposed to be evil? The characters kept saying that, but there was little evidence. Plot devices were left untied (Swithin borrowing the cart... that was never explained away.) I'm no mystery buff, more of a Jane Austen fan, but compared to the first two which I could not put down, this one was just so so. Left scratching my head, but will read #4 and hope these elements return to the par of books 1 and 2.   hide

I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series I've read. It's probably in my top five of the character mystery series I read (and that's my favorite genre of all time, so there's quite a few). Please see my review of the first book in the series for why these are so great.
