Iron Fist is the second book in Allston's Wraith Squadron trilogy, so it's not as satisfying as the books that came immediately before and after, but it's still a very good read. Allston gives us a much better look into what makes his characters tick, and serves up some interesting new additions to the team. The humor is still there, but the situations in Iron Fist are more "life and death," so it feels like gallows humor much of the time. It takes a while for the story to really take form, but there's enough action and crisp dialogue to keep you engaged in the meantime. We also get to see a bit (not much, but still) more of Rogue Squadron this time around, which was nice. I think I prefer the Wraiths by now though.
Iron Fist paves the way for the epic confrontation in Solo Command (Star Wars, X-Wing #7) (Book 7), which ends things with a bang. If you've been keeping up with the X-Wing series so far, you don't want to stop now!
