Global warming is coming to the planet. A group of American scientists and displaced Tibetan Buddhists are determined to stop it. A stupid American president stands in their way! Great read, and only the first of three!

This book picked up toward the end. I found there was way too much technical detail that didn't add anything substantial to the story. I'll finish the series but ....

Clearly Robinson is trying to stretch out his story into a trilogy when it could be done in one or two books. While the writing is rich and brings you into the story, the story is slow and nothing happens until the final 50 to 100 pages. Interesting science fiction based on global warming. The story is good, the characters lack any depth that would make them interesting. I'm now reading the sequel and am hoping that the character development improves.

Not as good as Red Mars, but still really good and a quick read despite its thickness. Robinson continues to put in a lot of research and it is definitely for academics who like to read about themselves. ;) Looking forward to the next installment...

Realism/parody is spot on; particularly fond of the League of Drowning Nations

i really wanted to like this book, b/c it has a lot of themes that i love, but i just couldn't. the characters were completely cardboard, despite the author's painful efforts to make them three-dimensional. that made me sad, and distracted me from the exciting stuff about the end of the world. thumbs down.

I liked this book which deals with climate change both globally and personally. I especially liked the father-baby interactions which seemed very real to me.
