An alternative to normal fantasy, the guy isn't a famed warrior, a stupendous magician or the messiah, he's just good at getting into trouble and lying his way out of it.
This was a fantastic fun book. Locke Lamora is a Danny Ocean type figure, leader of a gang of conmen. But its not just a con game caper. Its an intensely violent exploration of revenge too.
