The Darkest Evening of the Year

I've never read a Koontz book before this one so I didn't know what to expect. I liked the dog aspect of the book, great view into the love someone can have for a dog. But overall I found it predictable and the ending could've been so much better - it could've been more exciting and could've worked without the angel aspect that made it a bit of a disappointment.

Not one of my favorite Koontz reads.

Not his best because of the ending. It seemed like it should have taken longer to wrap this story up maybe... Still liked the book probably mostly because of the dog/angel theme.

I thought this was a beautiful book. I enjoyed it even more with it having dogs as part of the story.

I haven't read much Koontz, but I generally liked this book. Like others have noted, the book spent a lot of time leading up to a not-so-dazzling finale, but I found the concentration on animal cruelty particularly moving. Also, Moongirl, although not a very well developed character, was intriguing at the very least. So it goes.

It seemed interesting in the beginning, however it turned into a fairy tale. It was OK

the first 370 pages are a rollicking read.the next 80 are not quite there and the denouement is not quite koont-esque.

Kind of boring. Never finished it.

I want a Golden Retriever!!
