Flags of Our Fathers

My respect for the USMC was already pretty high. Reading this book hiked that respect up a few more notches. War is hell, and it was hell on Iwo Jima. For those who were there and lived to go back home, the effects lasted a life time.

I havent been able to get into it.

good book. lousy movie. but a good book.

I read this before the movie was made. It brings a realization of what our servicemen faced at Iwo Jima full of emotion. With a father and a father-in-law who both served in the Pacific Campaign during WW II. This brings a personal emotive response as well. I would highly recommend above the movie.
