This book was hard to read. I am a long time fan of Dean Koontz novels, and have never had this hard of a time getting into one of his books. I never found myself attached to the characters, which is not ussually the case for this author. Overall, it was ok, I'm glad that I read it, but not one tha I would spend time re-reading

Not one of my favorites by Dean!!!! I think the girlfriend was a mute point in the book like she supposedly had knowledge that she knew his choices and he had to pick the right one ...but if he didnt know she wasnt giong to tell him....it was missing soemthing in my opnion.
I listened to the audio version. If I could've skimmed over the many long, descriptive, and often unnecessary paragraphs I think I would've liked it more. As it was, it felt like Mr. Koontz was trying to make literature out of a thriller novel and failing miserably.
A decent read, but really not what I was expecting from Koontz.
I was disappointed that Samantha did not play a bigger role in the book.
I also hated how the first two parts were done in much more depth than the last part. The ending was a good twist, but it built up and then fell off rather drastically.
And, I absolutely hated Ryan's characterization. There was nothing in his personality...more
I am sorry to say that I hated this book. This was the very first time I read a Dean Koontz book and I loathed it. He took way too long to get to the point of the novel and when he eventually did, the plot was quite unexciting. I'll try some other books of his, maybe this was not his best work.
Really great tale of risk and decisions people make when their body isn't able to continue with the own organs. Wealth, Intrigue, and even Spiritualism come into play with this story. I continue to stand my ground that Dean Koontz is my Favorite Author and one of the best we have during my lifetime! (half century of reading and enjoying great stories)

Did not head in the direction I thought it would. With a little more he could have brought it up to the level of Intensity, but it just wasn't there for me this time. I was anxious to finish it so I could finish it, not so much because I had to know what happened. Not one of my favs by him either.
