In the end none of it seemed to matter, the relationship fizzled, the "twins" link a dead end, the posed dead bodies, intriguing for a couple minutes., like oooh, this book could turn goooodd...I did like the Edgar Allan Poe tie in, at least a little, maybe it was just a pleasant break reading his poems in a Koontz book. I was excited for this book after the Odd series was so much fun, as well as other recent books, such as The Good Guy, Husband, Velocity, Intensity, etc, recent era Dean, but I'd have to put this at the bottom of the modern era list. Do we not all know Dean's love of dogs yet? It's comforting & tiring at the same time I guess, but I could've done without the dog washing scene in the end.
