I admit that I didn't enjoy this book as much as "Like Water for Chocolate." There was some magic realism & the element of true, enduring love was present. more I admit that I didn't enjoy this book as much as "Like Water for Chocolate." There was some magic realism & the element of true, enduring love was present. Sometimes I couldn't keep track of who was talking or the characters but then it became clearer. She told you the "ending" of the story & then she explained the story but left out some details. It seemed almost like "Chronicle of a Death Foretold." You know the crime, you know what happened, but then you have to figure out who did what. Thankfully in this book, we find out what we should know in regards to the characters.
I couldn't identify much with the characters although I did "root for" the love between Júbilo & Lucha.
