The author spends so much time trying to tell the reader what they think (and constantly insulting them in the process!), defending himself against imaginary attacks and talking about his old books that he completely fails to make a convincing argument. The few good points that he makes are lost as there is no clear explanation of his tribalism and they are based on flawed and underdeveloped foundations.
The historical examples he uses to make some of his arguments sound good, but completely fall apart for anyone who has studied those civilizations. He has taken some facts, ignored others and twisted them to suit his needs. It makes me wonder about all of the examples he uses of which I don't know any background. If he took such liberties with historical fact, what else can I not trust about the evidence he uses on those few occasions he tries to make a point?
Definitely not to be recommended. The summary below sounds good, but it's totally not what the book is about.
