I liked the Giver and Gathering Blue, but Lowry tried, and failed, to pull the two drastically different stories together. Perhaps if she had spent more time exploring the potential of bringing the two stories together, and written a much longer book, it would have turned out better; as it was, the story braught up many more questions then it could answer in its scanty pages.

I think this book was good. but tying up the events of "The Giver" and "Gathering Blue" is difficult, and this novel does it, but i don't know just how successful it was. I still liked it.

It was okay. I read it so long ago, and I've been focused on Harry Potter, so I can't really remember the full details. It definately wasn't as good as "The Giver" or "Gathering Blue" but it was okay..

it was wayy better than gathering blue (that one was boring) and it was better than the giver. it was good until she ruined it at the end.
