An excellent read about a man who needs to get away from it all. Bordering on psychosis, he takes his family to form a new community rejecting modern life.

Allie does reminds me of the father in The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. That same purpose, which goes into single-mindedness and then tips over into madness. And isn't it one of the telling things of this type of character that they turn on their families? never mind the devastation they wrought on them - physically as well as pschycologically. Disturbing book to read.
