For all those, who despise reading a book can go and see the movie with the same title 'The Namesake'. It is quite an old film. hide
I'll be honest. I had'nt finished reading the book and misplaced it while moving house right when I was starting to really understand the characters and enjoy the book. Watched the movie and I thought Mira Nair did a good job. But reading the book is always a better experience.
Captures the life, challenges, and compromises of one South Asian immigrant family, interesting story too. At times seems a little superficial but I think a good introduction to these themes.
