I remember this book from university. Very thought provoking. You should try Anne Marie McDonald's 'fall on your knees' explosive writing.

I had a difficult time beginning this book, but once I started I couldn't stop. This is not an exciting page turner, rather a story that seems to slowly wrap us into the characters lives. I found myself thinking about the book while I was at work, eagerly anticipating the end of the day when I could pick the book up again.

Quoyle's character was my favorite. Ms. Proulx truly captured the essence of a great father when she penned him. I do wish that more had been written about the aunt.

wow, this has to be one of my all time favorite reads. The film is fantastic also, but read the book first. The tone of the book is slightly ominous, and for me had a hint of the horror genre about it. wow, this has to be one of my all time favorite reads. The film is fantastic also, but read the book first. The tone of the book is slightly ominous, and for me had a hint of the horror genre about it. I also really liked the fishing and shipping imagary that was used through out the novel.   hide
