more This book series is so ridiculously melodramatic and cheesy, but it's way too addictive to stop reading. While I detest many of the main characters, such as naive Cathy and her lovesick brother Chris, I found myself more intrigued by the minor characters, like their younger sister Carrie, especially in Petals on the Wind. I thought her character was greatly neglected, as well as many other characters within the series. However, I own every single book of the Dollanganger saga, and I can read them over and over. They're easy to get through and you can breeze right through them. Yes, the dialogue is absolutely absurd and unrealistic, the main characters unlikeable, and writing style oozes with purple prose, but nevertheless I love these books. And yes I realize that I sound hypocritical here, and if you know what I am talking about, then there is a difference between this and the other thing. I mean, at least this book has an actual plot, and at least it has SOME interesting characters. Oh, and no vampires. I'd rather read about incest than vampires.
