I really only wanted to read this book to find out about filming "The Sound of Music", which is described in one chapter. Other than that, Plummer uses a conversational style to describe his life on the stage and in films.

I'm a bit annoyed with myself for spending money on this book. Normally, I enjoy autobiographies by actors and actresses, as autobiographies are one of my favorite category of books. But, occasionally, I pick a bomb and this was one. Nothing against Plummer, who has a long, illustrious acting career, but there's just something about his writing style that I don't like [too many...more

I am within about 200 pages of completing the book. Many, many anecdotes about people that Mr. Plummer has worked with or known. Luckily he is about to discover the wisdom of sobriety and a settled-down life otherwise we may not have been able to enjoy more of his wonderful acting. Looking forward to reading the memoir of (my opinion) the best living actor in the business.

He's a little hard to follow, some chapters were ponderous.

Very intersting but written in a manner that is not easy to read, content good but hard reading.

I so admire Christopher Plummer as an actor and looked forward to his life story. However, I do think he should forget about writing and stick to acting. I did not feel the book was well written. With the interesting life, he has had, the book could have been so much more interesting. I sort of got bored with the litany of his escapades.

A gift frommy son. This guy is my 3rd or 4th cousin or something, so I was curious to learn what he had to say about this side of the family. Not much! He gives a 100 word paragraph to his estranged father, who apparently does not have a first or second name, dismisses him at age 17 and never mentions the family again. Otherwise, an incredibly self indulgent, arrogant memoir, self depreciating in...more

A thousand anecdotes, and this tremendous actor can also write. I'm still chuckling over Field Marshall Montgomery coming backstage after a performance, insisting Plummer must have served under him at El Alamein - when Plummer was 12. And was more convinced of it because Plummer was Canadian, mnay of whom HAD served under Monty ("damn fine killers, those Canadians," says...more
