An interesting read and great character development, but devolves into something weak and lazy.  No moral or philosophical punch.

Amazing, an unlikely achievement in the world of American letters. The story of this nations various ailments as seen through the lens of our war between the states, this is not a Transcript of Ken Burns' documentary, this is a poem about the hatred from which this nation was bourne.

Great story, but it gets rather strange towards the end there. Still, it shows how diverse Civil War fiction can be. It's a very different style from Shaara's.
