This is the hardest book I've ever loved. It's like a Southern Gatsby with multiple narrators. Truly an amazing work of literature.

Incest, horrible punctuation, and boringness all lead me to dislike Faulkner. I'm sad because he's supposedly a "great author." I guess my literary tastes just can't handle this "genious".

Excellent work. The plot set in the South depressing, full of prejudices, incest and characters that remind you of living ghosts. The ending is a shocker. Great read.

Finally, it is read. Geez, don't think I'll read anymore Faulkner for a while. I'm still unravelling Sutpen's motivations for his actions and the choices of women in the book. I guess I just don't understand much about the "old south." These crazy run on forever with no clauses sentences are addictive and irritating, but I will finish it.

One of the most amazing books of all time! I am in awe. Faulkner's weaving of the story of Sutpen with the history of the south is humbling. As I Lay Dying was wonderful but Absalom is masterful. I'm addicted and am on to The Sound and the Fury. Next is Intruder in the Dust.
