Wow. I have to say that through a large part of the book the plot seemed to lack any direction whatsoever. It ended up being VERY interesting, however, in terms of style, format and plot. Highly recommended.

I gave this book to my stepmother and she said don't ever give me some shit like that again as if she had no idea what the hell had just happened to her, and I totally understood how she feel. Gloriously other. Is it a satire of the literary life, or a tale told by a madman? Anyway, it is an amazing work - a demonstration of the many very beautiful and otherworldly games that the mind can play with words.

quirky, interesting, odd agglomeration of romance and postmodernism. If you read nabokov's other poetry you'll see that there is more of john shade in nabokov than nabokovians think!!

it took me forever to read this book, my main interest in it stemming from nabokov's signature lush prose, rather than any sort of plot-related intrigue. it's of course stunning, but surprisingly not that interesting: you know everything that's going to happen from the very beginning. still, worth a read, although "lolita" was for me far superior.
