Nabokov is easily one of the best authors of the 20th century. While I wasn't grabbed by the story of this novel I felt it was well worth a read just to experience his prose. Nabokov is easily one of the best authors of the 20th century. While I wasn't grabbed by the story of this novel I felt it was well worth a read just to experience his prose. This is one of his earlier works, and is very clearly a young man's novel, which I think allows it to be dismissed too lightly. While this novel definately has its faults, it would be a difficult thing not to like and to feel for its romatic, kindhearted, solitary protagonist. A great book to read if you can't stomache Lolita.   hide
