Independence Day

Four days of Frank Bascombes every thought. Somewhat like Henry Rabbit in that sense. Problem was I never felt an emotional attachment with any of the characters. Glad I read it, but wouldn't necessarily want to recommend it.

I nearly gave up on this several times but persevered. Think maybe you need to be male to get it.

not a big fan

I'd like to have given it five stars, but I had a little trouble reading this. I find myself having difficulty articulating why I didn't just adore this book as it was so poignant and thought provoking.

hmmm. you will understand something you didn't about what it means to be american.

Introspective to the max. Really enjoyed the first half and then it just got too thick and slow. Ford is obviously a very talented writer, but this one was so long with so little happening, it was hard to keep interest. Maybe something better to read when you're a little older.

Great novel. Picked it from a cruise ship library for a breezy read by the pool (thought it was related to the movie. Wrong again). Pulitzer prize winner for a reason. Brilliant writing.

Not sure how I trudged through this one.
