Quite simply the most extraordinary novel I have ever read. The narrative begins at death and ends at birth. The audacity of Martin Amis to attempt something so extraordinary - and entirely pull it off - leaves me in utter awe.

I loved this book! I first read it in undergrad and loved the whole concept of this book. The story is of Nazi doctor - who is experiencing life backwards - but the narrator seeing everything forward. The chapters in the concentration camps were surreal. Very interesting and worth the time!

hard to get into without drugs, but really very excellently written.
towards the end/beginning i actually wept at the descriptions in
Auschwitz, because of the placing of the reader and the intensity of
concentration it takes to read the bloody thing.
