I first read this book in college. It made me see the world with new eyes, the last paragraph alone is worth the price of the book. It's an historical novel about an adventurer who made the first flight across the Alps. It's also got lots of yummy mediative descriptions on sex. A great novel to read the year you lose your virginity.

I went into this without realizing John Berger is THE John Berger; Marxist, Structuralist art theorist extraordinaire. This book IS Structuralism as text itself. Pretty amazing. It's not always a fluid or fulfilling read, but it's constantly brain-churning.
