It was lots of details and I couldn't ever figure out where it was going other than it was the story of two basically dysfunctional people and half way through it I just couldn't get any hope for it to lighten up and not be so depressing so i quit reading it...there's got to be better stories out there to read. the characters were interesting enough, but it was just too much of a downer to me.   hide

Also reading this for the LRC (mother-daughter theme this year). Slow going so far but has promise to be very interesting.

Good story, pretty good movie as well. Read the book first.

Pretty good. I wouldn't mind reading some more of Mona.

I'm not really sure what to think of this book. Parts of it -- especially about the daughter -- I loved while other parts and the ending, I'm not sure what they were about. Still, worth a read ... and an editor.

It's somewhat of an odd book. I personally got a little bored of it not even half way through because its back and forth between her and her mother all the time. Who knows, I might pick it up and finish one day, but for now there are far more interesting things to do than to read this book.
