Really added to my experience in Japan. Pico Iyer paints a detailed landscape of Japanese culture with the eye of a seasoned traveller.

This book was written in late 80's to early 90's, but in my opinion, Japan changed a lot from late-90's. So I wouldn't recommend this book to those who want to know what Japan is like today.

This book was okay and had a well organized plot, but there was too much dialouge which made for difficult reading (dialogue was with someone who did not speak English very well).
