Neil Postman is incredible! This book is a sharply critical analysis of the ways in which technology has taken over our lives. That is not necessarily a bad thing. The problem is that technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but what it ends up doing is making us alter our lives to accomodate it. What we have created is a society that is obsessed with technology for technology's sake. When I interviewed for admission into the education program one of the questions I was asked was: "How would you use technology in the classroom?" Besides a light bulb and a chalk board, what other technology is really essential to get a good education??   hide
