Postman categorizes mankinds historic use of tools into three main ages. While we used to use tools for survival in the first, the second introduced more use for convenience, and the last is where we currently reside: Technopoly. Neil Postman is incredible! This book is a sharply critical analysis of the ways in which technology has taken over our lives. That is not necessarily a bad thing. The problem is that technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but what it ends up doing is making us alter our lives to accomodate it. What we have created is a society that is obsessed with technology for technology's sake....more
