Mao: The Unknown Story

Excellent read that is very well researched. Can be a little dry at times and is definitely not for kids, due to the subject matter, which includes fairly graphic descriptions of torture methods used by "Chairman" Mao. I learned a lot about the history of China in the 20th Century.

To repeat one reviewer, this is an "Atom bomb of a book." Some say this biography is biased. It's true the author may conclude that Mao is a monster, but it seems to be based on a ton of research. If only half of it is true, he's still a sociopath of the worst kind - the kind that manouevers himself into absolute power. It takes a while to get through, but it's worth it....more
