There's nothing new under the son. The cocky "loverboy" who thinks he's invincible is an interesting character to read about, but the ending was pretty predictable. It was only a matter of waiting to get to the end to know exactly HOW it happened. Good read.

The serf-like South before the Civil Rights movement, inter-racial relationships and the tragedy of trying to be the solution to a problem that you did not start. Interesting book, but unfortunately has become "stereotypical" because of everything written since.
