If I was given a copy of this book upon my acceptance to case, as opposed to during the summer before orientation, well, I probably wouldn't have gone. Interesting stories, but I'd rather dig ditches for the rest of my life than have to read this book again. Sacks' prose is like being in quicksand

Oliver Sacks' skill with prose and his ambition, sympathy, and understanding of his patients creates one of the most enjoyable books ever written. Although these people have certainly lost their normality they have gained other gifts and views of the world we will never see.

Dr. Sacks breaks down a lot of technical jargon for the layman in order to relay some truly amazing stories. With patience, it is well worth it.

Sacks is a diligent researcher and a patient observer of neurology. Very clearly written and easy to read. A touching, thoughtful, gentle probing into the complexities of the human mind as seen from clinical experience with the...more
