Dare to read.It unlearns what we learned so far and lets us start 'frest,original,out of box.....' attitude.Very Good One.

This book for me is the ultimate motivation tool.  It challenges you to treat yourself as your most valuable asset, to treat yourself as a differentiating brand.  Whenever I crack it open I have this urge to quit my job and devote all my time on making myself unique and valuable.

This book has been referred to by many authors who wrote on innovation. Tom Peters has been regarded as top thinkers in business. The activist attitude that he advocates in his book is always good for some positive adrenaline going.In this book, many ideas under 15 headings are brought forward. Instead of listing all of them down, here are some that I find useful to consider:more
 This book has been referred to by many authors who wrote on innovation. Tom Peters has been regarded as top thinkers in business. The activist attitude that he advocates in his book is always good for some positive adrenaline going.In this book, many ideas under 15 headings are brought forward. Instead of listing all of them down, here are some that I find useful to consider:Consider innovation, instead of incrementalism (24-7) - By improving slowly, don't get one very far. In a competitive world, one will never "leap a chasm in  bounds." (24)Forget it! (76-77) - Failures should be considered a good thing. Then organise forgetting and strategise forgetfulness (89) - Forget hesitation, forget the dethroning the blockbuster (93), forget about details and get the ideas first (96), forget rules (106), forget consensus (116), forget right and wrong (119)...Power=mindset - "Your lack of authority is in your head!" (176) Cool! Be the change! Take a Personal Brand Equity Test (part if it here):I am known for (2-4 items); by next year at this time, I plan also to be known for (1-2 items).

Empowerment = Information   Access   Decision Making   Choice   Customisation   Perception of Control/Ownership (252) Giving the power to others and let them decide what to do with the product or service you give them.Department of Beauty (274-6) - systems can be about art, beauty, grace, clarity and parismony. Human appreciates this finer things, so design systems that have human in mind.Innovation does not necessary come from the customers - "The customer is a rear-view mirror, not a guide to the future." (326) To trust them to tell you what is the next big thing is an illusion.Steve Jobs gets quoted - "Exposed yourself to the best things humans have done and then try to bring those things into what you are doing." (354) - Get different people together to cross-polineate ideas.Hire for attitude, train for skill (368) - this is from Peter Carbonara who wrote "Fast Company". Look for people with "passion/flexibility/excitement/appetite for adventure." (369)Design is a way of life - as a distinct advantage. Design is risk seeking. Design for surprise. Be observant, seek out opportunities to improve the life around us. Develop design sensitivity and mindfulness. (428-449)Overall, this is a very interesting book, as it is presented like some ppt slides, with images that help to lead the imagination. Although some of the examples are a bit dated (first published in 1997), most ideas are still relevant today. It is also interesting to see how writers on innovation adapted some of these ideas and updated them.   hide
