Not as good as his first book "Iron and Silk", but it's still a delight to read.

an engrossing read. finished it in one sitting.

It's not really a pleasant read but it is very interesting reflection on a man's life. How he progresses from being a prodigy to a failure. He tries to cope with mediocrity and eventually learns to quietly accept his lot in life. At the end he even finds solace and peace in his new lifestyle. A philosophical book at heart.

i have not sat down and finished a book in one sitting for a very long time, but i did for this.the amount of reflective musing and the way it is so naturally funny is spectacular.aaaaand also anyone who enjoys music (esp if you play) or likes Atticus from To Kill A Mockingbird will enjoy this a lot.

Really poignant portrayal of genius and mental illness. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the movie! Evokes the sheer madness of Skid Row and the plight of homeless mentally ill people.

trial section was incredibly boring, only intersting part was the little boy he taught cello to
