As always, much better than the movie. A beautiful story.

A good freshman effort from author David Guterson. A bit too ponderous for my taste in a novel where the modest emotional payoff was not as cathartic as it could have been. Nevertheless, I found it to be an enjoyable read with some rewarding character work. 3 out of 5 stars.
